Abstract

Questo saggio si propone di analizzare l'europeismo di uno dei più noti statisti italiani del Novecento: Alcide De Gasperi. Considerato tra i padri fondatori del contemporaneo progetto di unità europea, De Gasperi fu protagonista di una complessa stagione politica, sia a livello nazionale che continentale e internazionale. Il saggio - senza trascurare i riferimenti culturali e il rapporto con altre grandi personalità dell'epoca, come Schuman e Adenauer - ripercorre le fasi e i tentativi compiuti da De Gasperi per realizzare il suo sogno europeo fino al crollo della CED: l'ultima grande battaglia dello statista italiano.

This essay aims to analyse the Europeanism of one of the best-known Italian statesmen of the Twentieth century: Alcide De Gasperi. Considered among the founding fathers of the contemporary project of European unity, De Gasperi was the protagonist of a complex political season, both domestically and on a continental and international level. The essay – without neglecting the cultural references and the relationship with other great personalities of the time, such as Schuman and Adenauer – traces the phases and the attempts made by De Gasperi to realize his European dream until the collapse of the EDC: the last great battle of the Italian statesman.
