Abstract

The main goal of the present essay is to analyze the concept of democracy and the idea of Europe, as stated by Alois Dempf, one of the main German catholic philosopher of the 20th Century. Basing on an extensive research on history of political institution and on history of Christianity, Dempf, on one hand criticize the idea of a political theology and on the other hand, he approves the engagement of catholic parties in democracy as an assumption for a future European federation. Dempf ideas in this field have influenced political personalities as Adenauer and Schuman.
