The Russian idea in the 21st century. The geopolitics of sovereign democracy and the West

Abstract

Sovereign democracy represents the Russian Idea within the 21^st century. Its frames are composed by the doctrine of the foreign neighbour and the Eurasian Union as milestones of the new Russian geopolitics. Russian geopolitical thought tends to formulate a parallel Russian “Monroe” doctrine in post-Soviet space. Post-soviet area, indeed, is now in the middle of a geopolitical and geo-economic competition between Russia and the West. All Russian geopolitics must be considered through the perspective of a “New Great Game”.
