The "regionalists" and European integration. Ideas, documents and initiatives

Abstract

Questo scritto si sofferma  sul rapporto tra i cosiddetti "regionalisti" e l'integrazione europea. La prima parte cerca di definire meglio l'identità e le caratteristiche principali di questi "regionalisti", considerando anche diverse dichiarazioni, programmi politici e altri documenti e fatti. La seconda si concentra sull'evoluzione in quattro fasi del loro approccio ideologico e concreto all'Europa: è favorevole all'Europa, ma è critico, chiede "più Europa" e "un'Europa diversa".

This is a survey on the relationship between the so called “Regionalists” and the European integration. The first part tries to better define the identity and the key features of these “Regionalists”, also considering several statements, political programmes and other documents and facts. The second one focuses on the four-stages evolution of their ideological and concrete approach to Europe: it is pro Europe, but it’s critical, asking for “more Europe” and for a “different Europe”.
