NATO towards 2030. Between geopolitical challenges and complex threats

Abstract

Questo saggio intende discutere alcune delle sfide più importanti e attuali che riguardano il futuro della NATO: le conseguenze della guerra tra Russia e Ucraina, gli obiettivi del nuovo Concetto Strategico NATO 2030, le relazioni all'interno del quadro europeo e il confronto con altre minacce non meno fondamentali, come il ruolo della Cina e il terrorismo internazionale. In un mondo in fermento, il prossimo Segretario Generale sarà chiamato ad affrontare tutte queste questioni chiave.

This essay aims to discuss some of the most important and current challenges that concern the future of the NATO: the consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the objectives of the new Strategic Concept NATO 2030, the relations within the European framework and the confrontation with other but not less fundamental threats, such as the role of China and the international terrorism. In a world in turmoil, the next Secretary General will be called upon to face all of these key issues.
