Starting from the historical precedents that have traditionally characterised the process of defining a complete international actorness first of the European Community (EEC) and then of the European Union (EU), this essay aims to analyse the debate on the so-called strategic autonomy of the EU, and on the perspectives of the European foreign policy after the double systemic fracture represented by the pandemics and the war in Ukraine.
