Abstract

The second part of this extended essay on the historical roots of the Russian-Ukrainian war, started on February 24, 2022, aims to analyse the period between the Gorbachev’s perestroika and glasnost’ policies and the more recent events. Following the various stages of the Ukrainian history since the ancient times, and then taking into consideration the complex dynamics of both Soviet and post-Soviet space, the complete study (the first part was published in issue 2/2022 of the journal Europea) will highlight the critical elements of the Kiev-Moscow relations over the centuries.
