The Russian-Ukrainian war: historical roots of the conflict. Part I

Abstract

The first part of this extended essay on the historical roots of the war between Russia and Ukraine, started on February 24, 2022, aims first of all to contextualise the conflict in the European and international framework. Following the various stages of the Ukrainian history since the ancient times, and then taking into consideration the complex dynamics of both Soviet and post-Soviet space, the study will highlight the critical elements of the Kiev-Moscow relations over the centuries.
