COVID-19 and social crisis in the European Union

Abstract

The essay intends to focus on the new European instrument named SURE, adopted in order to mitigate the severely negative socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. The aim is to include it in the debate about the need to strengthen the EU social dimension and to highlight its innovative features with respect to the austerity measures adopted during the crises in 2008 and 2012.
